EPA Administrator Michael Regan has denounced “political violence” after the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump at a campaign rally this weekend.
Regan said in an internal email obtained by E&E News that he was alarmed by the attack on the presumptive Republican presidential nominee. The shooting has led to Trump and President Joe Biden, his Democratic opponent, to call for unity as the GOP national convention kicks off in Milwaukee this week.
“Like each of you, I am horrified by the senseless violence that took place at a rally for former President Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, last night,” Regan said in the email sent to EPA employees on Sunday.
Regan added, “I echo President Biden’s sentiments, there is no place for political violence in America, and we must unite and condemn violence in all forms.”
