EPA Administrator Michael Regan lauded Vice President Kamala Harris’ environmental record at a Tuesday afternoon appearance before a gathering of environmental advocates.
Harris appears poised to become the Democratic presidential nominee since President Joe Biden dropped out of the race Sunday. After saying he would be careful in discussing electoral politics, Regan said “the facts are” that both Harris and Biden “have prioritized environmental justice from day one.”
But Harris brings her own resume to dealing with environmental issues, he said.
In an earlier stint as California attorney general, she exuded a “polluter pays mentality” that led to successful legal action against major oil companies, Regan said. As a member of the U.S. Senate, she backed the adoption of electric school buses and removal of lead drinking water pipes, he added.
