EPA Administrator Michael Regan is leaving the agency before the end of the Biden administration.
Regan told EPA employees in an internal email obtained by POLITICO’s E&E News that his last day at the agency will be Dec. 31. Regan, as EPA’s 16th administrator, was the first Black man to lead the agency and sought to cement environmental justice, the pursuit of relief for disadvantaged communities long burdened with pollution, among its core principles.
“I’d like to express my deep and profound gratitude not only for the incredible accomplishments of the last year, but also for all we’ve done together under President Biden’s leadership to deliver on EPA’s mission,” Regan said in the email sent Friday.
He continued, “Ten years ago, I could have never imagined coming back to lead EPA alongside such committed and dedicated staff.”
