A leading clean power group is asking California regulators to let utilities speed up renewable energy purchases in the wake of President Donald Trump’s gutting of federal incentives.

What happened: The American Clean Power Association’s California division filed a motion with the California Public Utilities Commission on Monday requesting that the regulators allow power developers to “undertake immediate procurement to ensure that California ratepayers benefit from tax credits that are soon to expire” due to the GOP tax and spending package.

The group wants such an emergency procurement track to start as soon as next month.
