The National Science Foundation plans to transfer operations of a Wyoming research center to another operator as the Trump administration works to dismantle the center’s parent entity, the foundation announced Thursday.

The brief announcement — posted on NSF’s website with few additional details — follows the Trump administration’s December announcement that the White House would be “breaking up” the National Center for Atmospheric Research, or NCAR, based in Boulder, Colorado.

NSF said Thursday that it had informed management of NCAR that it would transfer management and operations of NCAR’s supercomputing center based in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
