Republican senators on the chamber’s primary environmental panel have a new senior press official at the ready.

Brent Scott has started as the Republican communications director for the Environment and Public Works Committee under ranking member Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), who could become chair next year if the GOP takes over the Senate.

Scott, a native West Virginian, joins the panel from Capito’s personal office. For the past two years, he worked as her press secretary and speechwriter.
