A Senate Energy and Natural Resources subcommittee is postponing a hearing on dozens of bills set for Wednesday morning.

The hearing is one of the first congressional victims of the government shutdown. The Public Lands, Forests and Mining Subcommittee — led by Sens. John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) and Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) — was set to receive testimony on public land, wildfire and mining proposals, but administration witnesses won’t be able to appear, according to a committee aide granted anonymity to discuss internal details.

The hearing suggested an increased focus on legislation before the Energy and Natural Resources Committee, which had been mostly working on nominees and the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.

It was set just weeks after a public dustup between Chair Mike Lee (R-Utah) and ranking member Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) over the committee’s legislative agenda and bipartisan consultations.
