A Senate Energy and Natural Resources panel will hear testimony on dozens of bills on Wednesday, a sign the committee is moving its attention more toward member legislation after largely focusing on nominees and the GOP megalaw.

The hearing of the Public Lands, Forests and Mining Subcommittee, led by Chair John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) and ranking member Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.), will consider more than two dozen public lands, wildfire and mining proposals.

The session will follow tense markup on nominees and a handful of bills where ranking member Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) said Chair Mike Lee (R-Utah) was not doing enough to consult Democrats.

Lee pledged to weigh bipartisan legislation. Indeed, the hearing includes proposals with little to no chance of passage this Congress.
