The Senate on Wednesday confirmed Wells Griffith for a senior post at the Department of Energy, while nuclear and EPA nominees advanced in committee.

The chamber voted 54-43 for Griffith to serve as energy undersecretary, a position the Biden administration used to call undersecretary for infrastructure.

Maine independent Angus King was the only member of the Democratic Caucus to support Griffith, who served at DOE and the White House during the first Trump administration.

A department spokesperson said in a statement that Griffith would be the “principal advisor on energy policy, energy security, and energy research and development.”
