The Senate will vote as soon as Wednesday on legislation that would stop EPA from delaying methane standards that date back to the Biden administration.

Democrats are forcing a vote on S.J. Res. 76 to nullify a Trump administration rule that postpones the implementation process for new methane emissions limits on the oil and gas industry.

Sens. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) and Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.), the ranking member of the Environment and Public Works Committee, are sponsoring the resolution under the Congressional Review Act. It’s unclear whether any Republicans will support it.

“It certainly should be [bipartisan.] But so much of the Republican Conference answers to the gas and polluting lobby, so, I don’t know,” Schiff told POLITICO’s E&E News.
