The Senate Foreign Relations Committee will question four nominees during a hearing Thursday, including for a senior environmental position at the Department of State.
The panel will review Wesley Brooks to become assistant secretary of State for oceans and international environmental and scientific affairs. Brooks is currently deputy assistant administrator for regulatory and scientific affairs at EPA’s Office of Water.
In the State Department role, the nominee would oversee international ocean, biodiversity and environment policy and cooperation.
Brooks was previously Florida’s chief resilience officer and director of federal affairs for Florida’s Department of Environmental Protection. He was also an aide for Secretary of State Marco Rubio during his Senate days.
