The Sierra Club is suing the White House over records related to federal spending that was frozen by the Trump administration.
The environmental group filed a lawsuit Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California contending that the White House budget office has violated the Freedom of Information Act by failing to release government records.
The lawsuit comes after the Sierra Club filed FOIA requests with the government seeking documents from the Office of Management and Budget related to frozen federal funding as well as communications between administration officials and outside parties who may be influencing federal decisions.
OMB has not made determinations on the Sierra Club’s FOIA requests, the group says in its lawsuit, nor has the government provided an estimated time of completion. The government has also failed to produce any documents or provide an explanation for withholding documents, the Sierra Club wrote.
