The chief executive of Southern California’s sprawling natural gas utility is resigning just over 15 months after taking the job.
What happened: Maryam Brown submitted notice Monday that she would resign as CEO and president of SoCalGas and as a member of the board of directors, effective April 17, according to a financial filing the company submitted to regulators. The filing did not cite a reason for Brown’s departure.
On Wednesday, the company’s board of directors appointed Rodger Schwecke, the company’s chief operating officer, as interim president of SoCalGas, effective April 18.
Why it matters: Brown’s swift departure ushers in a leadership change at the Los Angeles-based company, which bills itself as the nation’s largest natural gas distribution utility, providing fuel to 21 million customers.
