Solar energy manufacturer Qcells has hired Joe Mendelson to lead its Washington lobbying office.

A longtime lobbyist and attorney on clean energy and environmental matters, Mendelson is now vice president at Qcells North America, heading public policy and government relations, he wrote in a Tuesday LinkedIn post. POLITICO first reported the hiring.

Mendelson most recently worked at Tesla’s lobbying office as senior counsel, working on issues like trade and critical minerals. Numerous employees in Tesla’s lobbying office have left this year as the company carried out major layoffs — including, reportedly, slashing its policy team.
