Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced Friday that his office is taking legal action against several residential solar companies — including one of the biggest in the state — for allegedly engaging in “fraudulent and deceptive practices.”

The attorney general’s office said in a news release that it has issued civil investigative demands to four residential solar companies: Sunrun, Freedom Forever, Lone Star Solar Services and CAM Solar.

Paxton, who is locked in a fierce Republican primary runoff for the U.S. Senate against incumbent Sen. John Cornyn, said in the statement that more than 100 complaints against those four companies have been filed with the Office of the Attorney General.

On Friday, Paxton wrote in a statement that this is “only the beginning” of an initiative to “stop widespread fraudulent activity in the solar panel industry.”
