DOT Secretary Sean Duffy’s move to cut funding for 12 ports is the latest bid by the Trump administration to kill the offshore wind projects approved during the Biden administration.

The Transportation Department said Friday it is withdrawing and terminating $679 million in funding designed to support offshore-wind-related ports and manufacturing facilities, making it the latest agency to hamper the development of the industry that has been criticized by President Donald Trump.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said he is canceling funding for 12 offshore wind grants and project selections, including an offshore wind logistics and manufacturing hub, a specialized port for assembly and other projects to support the construction and maintenance of offshore wind infrastructure.

“Thanks to President Trump, we are prioritizing real infrastructure improvements over fantasy wind projects that cost much and offer little,” Duffy said in a statement.

He further criticized the Biden administration for bending “over backwards to use transportation dollars for their Green New Scam agenda while ignoring the dire needs of our shipbuilding industry.”
