The Trump administration is poised to release the first two rules in a high-stakes series of proposed Clean Air Act rollbacks that aim to dismantle Biden-era controls on power sector pollution.

The proposed rules would loosen restrictions on the fossil fuel-fired power sector with “repeals” of stricter hazardous air pollutant limits and climate standards that required fossil fuel plants to invest in carbon capture.

A government tracking website showed the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs completed a review Friday. Groups that had scheduled meetings on the climate rule for this week reported having them canceled.
