The Trump administration is appealing a judge’s decision that found the White House’s effort to halt permits for wind projects across the country illegal.

The appeal marks the administration’s latest action to block wind energy development in the U.S. President Donald Trump has repeatedly derided the renewable energy source as unreliable and has said that no turbines would be built under his administration.

A federal judge in December deemed the administration’s action “unlawful.” Judge Patti Saris wrote as part of that decision that defendants “candidly concede that the sole factor they considered in deciding to stop issuing permits was the President’s direction to do so.”

The Justice Department this week filed a notice of appeal to the 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals challenging that district court ruling.
