Roger Jarrell has been tapped to lead efforts at the Energy Department to oversee the cleanup of decades’ worth of pollution left over from nuclear weapons development and nuclear research.
Jarrell, who served in the first Trump administration, is principal deputy assistant secretary of DOE’s Office of Environmental Management, according to an internal email obtained by POLITICO’s E&E News.
DOE confirmed Jarrell’s appointment.
Jarrell is currently serving as a senior adviser in the office. During the first Trump administration, he interfaced with the Office of Environmental Management and DOE leadership, and helped formulate cleanup strategies, according to his online bio.
