President Donald Trump’s pick to lead EPA’s Region 9 office — stretching from the Southwest to Guam — has resigned after less than six months on the job.
Josh Cook, a veteran California GOP staffer and consultant, confirmed in an email that he has stepped away from his post at EPA, which he started on March 18.
“I have [resigned],” Cook wrote. “I’m super excited. Super happy and looking forward to working on those issues that brought me to the EPA.”
In a separate statement, he said, “I’m leaving to pursue incredible opportunities with the Tribes I have worked for over the last 25 years to develop native workforce capacity and integrate sustainable forest and watershed management practices on federal lands. There is a window of opportunity we did not want to miss.”
