California, Colorado, Illinois and Minnesota are affected by the administration’s decision to rescind more electric vehicle program money.

The Trump administration has halted the release of almost $135 million to build electric vehicle charging stations in blue states.

More than 2,600 charging points would have been constructed with the money, but last week the Office of Management and Budget told the Department of Transportation to cancel the funding because of “waste and mismanagement.”

The affected states — California, Colorado, Illinois and Minnesota — were among the Democratic strongholds that successfully sued the Trump administration to wrest back funds from a different pot of EV-charging money.

A spokesperson for Colorado Gov. Jared Polis said the state “will continue to fight back against unlawful grant terminations,” while acknowledging that it hadn’t received official word from the federal government that its program had been killed.
