President Donald Trump on Wednesday nominated Wesley Brooks for a top State Department post focused on the environment.
Brooks, who is currently serving as deputy assistant administrator for policy at EPA’s Office of Water, would become assistant secretary of state for oceans and international environmental and scientific affairs.
The nominee has also served as Florida’s chief resilience officer and as director of federal affairs for Florida’s Department of Environmental Protection.
If confirmed, Brooks would oversee U.S. engagement on ocean policy, biodiversity and global environmental cooperation. Monica Medina held the position under the Biden administration from 2021 until her departure in 2023.
