Trump to agencies: Disclose your less ‘successful’ staffers

New guidance indicates the Trump administration is eyeing another channel to cull the federal workforce.

The Trump administration has asked federal agency and department heads to hand over performance management data on their employees.

The request will inform efforts to draft “new performance metrics” to comply with President Donald Trump’s executive order on merit-based hiring as well as his hiring freeze.

The new push is part of the administration’s torrent of efforts aiming to fundamentally reshape the civil service. It also indicates the administration may try another channel to cull the federal workforce.

Agencies are to report to the Office of Personnel Management “all employees who received less than a ‘fully successful’ performance rating in the past three years,” the memo says.
