LONDON — Britain is closing in on a long-coveted critical minerals partnership with Greenland, just months after President Donald Trump threatened to annex the island.
The self-ruling Danish territory, which has vast caches of rare earth elements, is seen as an increasingly important geopolitical player.
Three figures familiar with the talks told POLITICO that the minerals deal, which has been years in development, is on the cusp of being unveiled.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer could sign the partnership as soon as Wednesday or Thursday when he visits Denmark’s capital Copenhagen for the European Political Community summit.
