Utah Gov. Spencer Cox (R) is once again asking Beehive State residents to seek divine intervention for more precipitation — while also asking them to use less water while they wait.
Cox issued an executive order Friday declaring June 29 a “Day of Prayer and Fasting for Rain.” It marks the second time he has done so since taking office.
The U.S. Drought Monitor reports that the entirety of Utah is in some form of drought, ranging from “abnormally dry” conditions to “severe drought.”
Cox noted that conditions have expanded significantly in recent weeks and bolstered wildfires that have burned more than 43,000 acres statewide.
