Former EPA employees are offering support to agency staffers in what has become a precarious time for the federal workforce.

The EPA Alumni Association emailed an open letter in support of current staff Tuesday night. The letter requested that Administrator Lee Zeldin and lawmakers keep the agency up and running as the Trump administration calls on federal employees to resign and cuts government spending.

“We call on Administrator Zeldin and Congress to ensure that EPA remains adequately funded and empowered to continue its vital mission,” said the letter, which was shared with POLITICO’s E&E News.

The alumni letter praises the agency for its 54 years of improving air and water quality as well as reducing chemical risks and cleaning up contaminated land.
