Four young people with illnesses allege EQT didn’t fully disclose chemical emissions from its operations in the Mountain State.

A group of young people experiencing a litany of health problems are bringing two subsidiaries of EQT to federal court over claims the company failed to warn them about the hazardous pollution from its gas operations in West Virginia.

The four minors, identified in court documents by just their initials, allege that the lack of information from the Pittsburgh-based company prevented them from identifying their exposure to harmful emissions and receiving “meaningful medical care.”

Their injuries are the result of EQT’s “grossly negligent and reckless operations,” attorneys for the young people said in their complaint filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.

The lawsuit focuses on emissions from EQT’s Knob Fork Compressor Station, as well as from its gas wells. Three of the challengers had lived less than 3,500 feet from the compressor station, and three were less than 2,500 feet from gas wells.
