The Trump administration unveiled a $12 billion aid package Monday for farmers hurt by President Donald Trump’s tariffs and other economic challenges.

The president, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins and Director of the National Economic Council Kevin Hassett were on hand for the announcement, which was made at a roundtable discussion with farmers, along with lawmakers and agriculture industry representatives.

“Now we’re once again in a position where a president is able to put farmers first,” Trump said. “But unfortunately I’m the only president that does that.”

Farmers will start receiving the funds by Feb. 28, Rollins said. Applications for the money will open in the coming weeks so that farmers “will know exactly what that number looks like.”
