The White House sent the Senate two more new energy nominees this week, including a candidate to head the Department of Energy’s international work.

The president has picked Kaveh Farzad to become assistant secretary of Energy for international affairs and Wells Griffith, a former top DOE official, to become ambassador to the International Atomic Energy Agency.

The selections come as the administration is facing multiple foreign policy challenges in addition to the Iranian conflict, including oversight of Venezuela.

Farzad is managing director of global public affairs at FGS Global, a consulting and communications firm, according to his LinkedIn page. He was the Arabian Peninsula lead at the Department of Energy from 2020 to 2022.
