Bear hunters on national preserves in Alaska could potentially once again lure trophy animals with bait under a rules package now getting a White House scrub.

In its latest move to reverse a Biden administration wildlife policy, the National Park Service on Monday submitted proposed hunting rule revisions to the White House’s regulatory gatekeepers. While details remain closely held, the agency suggested what’s coming.

“This action,” the National Park Service explained earlier this year, “would more closely align sport hunting regulations in national preserves in Alaska with state of Alaska regulations, helping to ensure that hunting opportunities on federal lands are consistent with similar opportunities on State lands.”
