Zeldin talks permitting, tax law with House Republicans

EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin huddled with House Republicans on Thursday ahead of the chamber’s expected vote on major GOP permitting legislation.

Zeldin spoke behind closed doors on Capitol Hill with lawmakers and staff on the House Budget Committee as part of a series of visits the panel has hosted with Trump administration officials.

The meeting was held to discuss implementation of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, President Donald Trump’s major tax and energy law, according to a committee aide, but the conversation was wide-ranging.

In an interview after the meeting, Zeldin, who served in the House from 2015 to 2023, told reporters the conversation included permitting reform, an all-encompassing term that’s the subject of multiple bills hitting the floor this week and next.
