DEBRA KAHN

Debra is editorial director of POLITICO’s energy and environmental coverage, overseeing a team of some 50 reporters and editors dedicated to all aspects of energy policy and politics across the U.S. Her team specializes in delivering timely, essential news to subscribers who rely on the information to do their jobs in government, business and advocacy.
She is a sought-after expert on those topics, with 15 years of experience reporting on and editing related stories. She frequently moderates panels for major conferences and interviews the personalities shaping energy and environmental policies. She also has a column on the conversations, conflicts and characters animating the energy, environment and climate debates.
Debra previously served on POLITICO’s California team as policy editor, where she created a daily newsletter covering California energy, climate, environmental and transportation policy. Before that, she served as California bureau chief and was a founding member of the Sacramento policy squad as California environment and transportation reporter, covering climate, water, air pollution, electric vehicles, fuel economy, high-speed rail and wildfires.
Debra came to POLITICO in 2019 after 13 years at E&E News, 10 of those in California.
