A Biden administration official who worked on implementing the landmark 2022 climate change law has dropped his campaign for Congress.

Pablo McConnie-Saad, who was running in the Democratic primary for Pennsylvania’s 3rd District, said in a social media video Thursday that “it’s become clear that we don’t have a viable path to victory.”

McConnie-Saad previously worked at the Treasury Department on helping people, companies organizations and others to take advantage of the clean energy tax incentives in the Inflation Reduction Act. Republicans repealed most of those credits last year in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.

“Energy costs are going through the roof, and divesting from all of these provisions of the Inflation Reduction Act is going to make life more expensive across the board,” he told POLITICO’s E&E News in November after his campaign launch.
