Want to cut down a tree for Christmas and protect public lands from wildfires? The Bureau of Land Management has a deal for you.

The Interior Department announced Friday that the public can now buy permits to cut down a tree for Christmas on BLM rangelands across the West and Alaska at a reduced price of only $1.

Christmas tree-cutting permits, depending on the state, typically cost between $5 to $10.
