The amendments aim to put energy issues front and center amid the extended debate on the “SAVE America Act.”

Senate Democrats have introduced hundreds of amendments to Republicans’ marquee election security bill, including more than two dozen on energy and natural resources issues.

The proposals include a bid to roll back President Donald Trump’s executive actions on energy and climate change. Another would extend certain renewable energy tax credits. A third would require data center operators to report their energy and water consumption.

Those measures are a small part of Democrats’ effort to delay and derail the “SAVE America Act,” which aims to make it more difficult for noncitizens to vote in federal elections and which Democrats say would make it harder for millions of American citizens to vote.

The amendments are unlikely to be considered given the Republican majority’s ability to control debate on the elections bill. And even if the amendments do get floor votes, most or all of them would likely fail.
