A former Capitol Hill and Department of Energy staffer who helped draft the Biden administration’s sweeping climate law has joined technology giant Alphabet, the company confirmed to POLITICO’s E&E News on Thursday.

Luke Bassett, who worked on the Inflation Reduction Act as an aide to former Sen. Joe Manchin (I-W.Va.), is now the Washington-based policy lead for Tapestry, an arm of Alphabet focused on advancing technologies for the electric grid. Alphabet is Google’s parent company.

Bassett also worked in Biden’s Treasury Department as senior adviser for domestic climate policy and helped implement the megalaw.
