Former Virginia Democratic Gov. Terry McAuliffe is joining the board of a natural gas advocacy group.
Natural Allies for a Clean Energy Future said adding McAuliffe is part of a strategy of expanding its operations in the state. McAuliffe was governor from 2014 to 2018, and has long been a major Democratic Party fundraiser. He’ll be a national co-chair, joining other Democratic former politicians.
“I’m honored to join Natural Allies as a National Co-Chair in the fight to help lower Virginians’ electricity bills, strengthen the Commonwealth’s energy grid, and advance clean energy solutions,” McAuliffe said in a statement.
“As a Virginian who knows the importance of natural gas to my Commonwealth’s economy, I believe that we must come together to secure a reliable and affordable energy future,” he added.
