A top Senate Democrat is vowing to vote against President Donald Trump’s nominee to lead a Department of Energy office tasked with overseeing the cleanup of the sprawling, contaminated site in her state after an official overseeing that work was fired Monday.

Sen. Patty Murray of Washington — ranking member of the Appropriations Committee and a member of Senate leadership — in a statement said she would oppose Tim Walsh to serve as assistant secretary of Energy for environmental management.

Trump nominated the real estate executive and Army vet to oversee DOE’s Office of Environmental Management in March, and he’s still awaiting confirmation. He cleared the Energy and Natural Resources Committee along party lines in July.
